THE AIR REGULATORS THAT CONTROL THE FLOW OF CLEAN, DRY, OIL-FREE INSTRUMENT AIR ACROSS THE TWO COLLECTORS AND THE BEAM SPLITTER ARE USED TO KEEP FIBER FLY (WHICH WOULD CAUSE FALSE DEFECTS) FROM ACCUMLATING ON THE OPTICAL SURFACES. PURGE AIR IS ALSO USED TO KEEP THE ROTATING MIRROR CLEAN. .SKIP 2 E. REPLENISH AS REQUIRED WITH THE SAME OIL USED IN OTHER BOXES. .SKIP GREASE THE CONVEYOR ROLL BEARINGS, GEAR BOX OUTBOARD BEARINGS, AND BELT TENSIONERS ON THE SAME SCHEDULE AS BEARINGS ON THE LINE SHAFT. .SKIP INSPECT CONVEYOR-ROLL DRIVE BELTS FOR SIGNS OF EDGE WEAR. IF WEAR IS EVIDENT, CHECK ALIGNMENT OF ALL TIMING PULLEYS AND TENSIONERS. .SKIP VACUUM THE ACCUMULATED FIBER FLY FROM THE BOTTOM ENCLOSURE (BY REMOVING THE FRONT AND REAR ACCESS PANELS) AND THROUGH THE AISLE AND DRIVE SIDE DOORS. .SKIP 2
.COMMENT PAGE 9 E.2 CORRECTIVE .BR ----------------- .SKIP UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS, THE ONLY COMPONENTS THAT ARE LIKELY TO FAIL ARE THE ROLL BEARINGS AND BELT TENSIONERS. WHEN REPLACING THESE COMPONENTS, BE SURE THE ROLLS ARE CORRECTLY REALIGNED TO PROVIDE PROPER TRACKING OF THE WEB THROUGH THE MACHINE. ALSO MAKE SURE THE TIMING-BELT PULLEYS ARE CORRECTLY ALIGNED. .SKIP A SPARE DURST REVERSING GEAR BOX, PART NO 2147M106C, SHOULD BE KEPT ON HAND. REPLACE AS SHOWN ON DRAWING 2147M11. .SKIP WHEN ANY MAINTENANCE IS PERFORMED INSIDE THE BOTTOM ENCLOSURE, MAKE SURE THAT (A) THE GLASS COVERS ON THE TWO COLLECTORS ARE PROTECTED; (B) THE BEAM-SPLITTER FILTER (DRAWING 2147M23) IS SUITABLY COVERED, AND (C) THE PHOTOMULTIPLIER HOUSINGS, 2147M12, AND CONNECTING CABLES ARE SUITABLY PROTECTED. .PAGE .CENTER FIGURE 2 .CHAPTER CHAPTER-IV .PAGE
