FORTRAN Program Printed on an ASR 33 Teletype
The FORTRAN-D (FORmula TRANslation for the Disk System) is a modified version of the PDP-8 4K paper tape FORTRAN for operation under the disk monitor system. This is a simplified version of FORTRAN to allow operation with only 4K 12 bit words of memory. A version of FORTRAN-IV was available under the OS-8 operating system. Due to the memory constraints errors were printed as a numeric code without any text description. Common ones you would remember otherwise you would have to look it up in the manual.
The printout is on the standard newsprint quality roll paper used by the teletype. The ASR 33 was not known for the best print quality but this print quality is worse than normal. The print head has been slightly damaged and the platen has hardened so parts of characters tend not to print.
