Pascal

• Portable based on P4 compiler. Compiles to interpreted P code.
• Error messages and information printed on errors is very good. Better than current free Pascal under Linux.
• Dual nested for loops with 12 bit integer 4.3 minutes. Assembly 5 seconds.
• No documentation on the PDP-8 specific changes. Various sources with compiler which can figure much out.
• Started my histogram and print ASCII art in it but switched to assembly for execution speed. Was able to read binary files.
• Only fixed length strings.

• Pascal-S is other. Messages in German? Didn't have time to try.

Notes:

Most PDP-8 programs have cryptic error messages that real programmers would remember but I have to look up.

Some from ? to ##.##, two letters etc. Pascal was real sentences
