Top view from right side of drive with covers removed. The spindle motor and spindle are in the lower left. The spindle is magnetized and sticks to the drive hub. The brown ring in the spindle is the magnet. At the upper left is the air outlet which feeds filtered air into the disk pack to prevent dirt from entering. The blower is the black object. The white foam attached to it is not original, it was a dark grey and tends to be falling apart in the drives so I replaced it.
in the middle right is the card cage for the electronics with the wire-wrapped backplane showing. Above that is the voice coil actuator for the heads. The heads can be seen sticking out from the metal ring in the center. Behind the head positioner is the servo amplifier board for driving the head positioner and the power supplies.
