Vintage Computer Festival 3B1 with p5.1 modification p5.1 register
The three socked chips add the new register for the additional head and drive select line that was supported by the unreleased p5.1 version of the motherboard. The p5 motherboard has these three chip locations unpopulated. They are a convienent location to install the additional logic. I assume their are a bunch of wires under the motherboard to connect the added chips.
