This is the wirewrap side of the PDP-8/I backplane. The yellow wires are the wires used to interconnect all the boards ( 57K) . Many of the thin non yellow wires may be engineering change orders (ECO) to correct problems with the machine, to enable options custom modifications by the user. Most of the wiring for all internal options was factory installed but the cards were not if that option was not ordered. Some wiring was required to be changed or added with the option since undriven control signals to the processor logic could cause the machine to malfunction. The thicker colored wires are power distribution.
