If you remove the nut holding the pulley on you can get access to the upper spindle bearing but if the drive is oriented like shown in the pictures the platters will drop down and rest on the head arms damaging them. The bearings are preloaded with the spring which makes putting them back together difficult. I was holding the drive pulley but after it starts to get loose turning the nut wanted to spin the entire platter stack and not unscrew further. Spindle bearings are 6202 and motor bearings are 608Z.
